The site is nestled in the heart of the St.Lawrence countryside, with favourible south facing views over fields. The Client works from home so needs study space, and has two lively young sons. The Client and his wife favour the first floor aspect overlooking the fields so it was decided to create living accommodation on the first floor as an 'upside down' house to take advantage of the views and warm south light. Off the living areas a first floor sedum grassed deck has been designed. The Client enjoys T'ai Chi practice first thing in the morning and his sons like to kick a football so this provides an additional garden space to the ground floor garden area.
Character of existing building
The character is a reasonably pastiche mock Tudor style the client did not want to replicate but to have a more contemporary look.

the last image indicated here is simply indicative of some examples of design the client is looking at for the final design finishes and are not indicative of any built design for the project.
